Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 26, 2025

SnipPost (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a Chrome extension and related website that turn selected webpage text into social media posts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share user data when you use our Chrome extension (“Extension”) and our website at snippost.io (“Website”). It is intended to satisfy the privacy policy requirements of the Google Chrome Web Store and to give you a clear picture of your data.

1. Data we collect

We may collect the following categories of data:

  • Account information. When you sign up inside the Extension (e.g., email address and any profile details you provide).
  • Selected text and generation data. When you use “Generate social snippets,” the text you have selected on a webpage is sent to our systems and to our AI provider so we can generate social posts. We use this only to fulfill the feature and to improve our service (e.g., quality and safety).
  • Usage and diagnostics. Information about how you use the Extension and Website (e.g., actions in the Extension, pages you visit on our Website, device/browser type, and similar technical data). We may use cookies and similar technologies on the Website.
  • Payment information. If you purchase a paid plan, our payment processor collects and processes payment details. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

2. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the SnipPost Extension and Website.
  • Generate social media content from the text you select (including sending that text to our AI service provider).
  • Manage your account, authenticate you, and enforce our terms and usage limits.
  • Process payments for paid plans (via our payment processor).
  • Analyze usage (e.g., via analytics on our Website) to improve our product and experience.
  • Comply with law, protect our rights, and ensure security.

3. Parties we share your data with

We disclose user data only as described below. We do not sell your personal information.

  • AI service provider. The text you select and submit for “Generate social snippets” is sent to our third‑party AI provider so it can generate the social posts. That provider’s use of data is governed by its own privacy policy and our contract with them.
  • Analytics and tag management. Our Website may use services such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (or similar). These services collect usage data (e.g., pages visited, general location, device type) on our Website according to their respective policies.
  • Payment processor. If you buy a paid plan, your payment details are handled by our payment provider (e.g., Stripe or similar). We receive only the information needed to complete the transaction and manage your subscription (e.g., plan type, billing status).
  • Hosting and infrastructure. Our servers and related services are run by cloud/hosting providers that process data on our behalf to operate the Extension and Website.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose data when required by law, to protect our or others’ rights, or to enforce our terms and policies.

4. Chrome extension permissions and data

The SnipPost Chrome extension may request permissions (e.g., to read or interact with the pages where you use it, or to store preferences). We use these only to provide the described functionality—such as reading the text you select and sending it for snippet generation—and we do not use them to collect data beyond what is described in this policy.

5. Data retention and security

We retain your data only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data; no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

6. Your choices and rights

You may:

  • Access, update, or delete your account information through the Extension or by contacting us.
  • Opt out of marketing communications by using the unsubscribe link in our emails.
  • Limit or disable cookies in your browser; note that some Website features may depend on them.
  • Request deletion of your personal data or a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting us at the address below.

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with similar laws, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority). We will honor those rights in accordance with applicable law.

7. Children

Our service is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have done so, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g., contracts or mechanisms recognized by your jurisdiction) when we transfer data internationally.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may also notify you via email or a notice in the Extension. Continued use of SnipPost after changes means you accept the updated policy.
